Thoughts

Mike was such a lovely gentleman. Mike always had a story to tell of a life well lived. A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world, a brighter, better place. It is filled with moments, sweet and sad with smiles and sometimes tears, with friendships formed and good times shared, and laughter through the years. A life well lived is a legacy, of joy and pride and pleasure. A living, lasting memory that our grateful hearts will treasure.

Uncle Mike was the most wonderful man; larger the life, out-going, energetic, smart, supportive and kind. He shared wonderful family times and holidays with us when we were children, and nurtured a sense of intrigue, competition and challenge into our lives, through games, sports and puzzles. He was a key player in developing my love of sport, namely badminton, encouraging me to play competitively and strive to be better. As a left-hander he possessed wicked disguise and deception, and was always very challenging to play against! Despite the regular losses, I remember those times most fondly! When we moved overseas, we didn't lose touch, and loved returning to Brigstock or Market Harborough to catch up whenever we were home, often to have a curry or Thai meal together. We felt honoured when Anita & Mike travelled out to the Far East to holiday with us and attend our wedding, sharing experiences but also creating lifelong memories together. Uncle Mike not only loved and cared about us and showed interest in our lives, but also in those of our children when they came along. It was a pleasure to see our girls play table tennis in the garage with Uncle Mike, and they both remember the tortoises and the ingenuity used to tether them in the garden! It was a privilege to have Uncle Mike in our lives, to spend quality time with him. We will all miss you xxxx
